Meals in Sweden

In Sweden, they typically eat 3 meals a day like most other modern European countries, and a snack like a small sandwich or fruit between meals. This also includes a tradition of coffee after lunch, or a coffee break in the afternoon with biscuits or treats. Swedish crisp bread, or knackebrod, is the main ingredient of the traditional breakfast. It makes a great open sandwich with butter and hard cheese, fresh cut meats, caviar, ham, and vegetables. There’s also jam, marmalade, or chocolate as a topping! This almost always comes with coffee or tea.
Some specialties in Sweden that can be found for lunch or dinner include the Smorgasbord, the Scandinavian selection of cold cut meats, pickled fishes with boiled potato, smoked salmon, anchovies, pate, or stuffed veal served with Sweden’s famous sourdough bread. There are also Kottbullar, which are small, flavorful meatballs, and wild strawberries and cloudberries. Eating in Sweden is delicious!
